Switzerland-based training company Hintsa, known for coaching F1 drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen, has merged with HeiaHeia, Finnish corporate online healthcare service, creating a new full-range healthcare platform.
The new company will link Hintsa's scientists and experts in fields such as sport and medical science, sleep and recovery, nutrition, biomechanics and psychology with HeiaHeia’s established platform. Aki Hintsa, founder of Hintsa Performance, spent 11 years as F1 team coach and has focused on his health philosophy - that high performance is a by-product of general wellbeing - since leaving the McLaren team in 2013.
Starting out as a fitness app, HeiaHeia has built a range of features into its software to service major clients around the world, including IKEA, PepsiCo and the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
The two companies have been collaborating since 2014, and now decided to merge businesses. “We have everything from mobile apps to completely individualised top-level wellness and performance coaching, all based on the same deep-reaching philosophy, accessible to millions," Jussi Räisänen, the CEO of the new company said in a statement. He said the name for the new company was yet to be decided, but Hintsa and HeiaHeia brands would continue to exist for time being.
Time will tell as to whether HeiaHeia’s client base of over 400 companies and public sector institutions worldwide will adopt the philosophy inherited from Hintsa, but with the ever-increasing popularity of smartphones and emergence of wearable technology, it's a worthy bet for current and new clients alike; it’s now down to the marketeers to do it justice.
